Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengidentifikasi dan mengeksplorasi frekuensi strategi belajar kosakata yang digunakan di kelas 2 SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara penguasaan kosakata dan strategi yang mereka gunakan dalam mempelajari kosa kata. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas XI IPS 2. Pengambilan sampel secara acak digunakan untuk memilih sampel dalam penelitian ini. Ada dua variabel yang digunakan, yaitu penguasaan kosa kata dan strategi belajar kosa kata. Peneliti menggunakan 32 item kuesioner yang diadaptasi dari Schmitt untuk strategi belajar kosa kata. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Pearson Correlation Product Moment dalam Statistical Packaged for Social Science (SPSS) versi 16.0. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa strategi penentuan merupakan strategi yang paling sering digunakan oleh siswa yang berhasil dengan nilai rata-rata 4.80. Kemudian kebanyakan siswa yang kurang berhasil menggunakan strategi metakognitif dengan nilai rata-rata 3.50. Namun kedua kelompok siswa tersebut sama-sama menggunakan strategi kognitif dalam frekuensi yang rendah dengan nilai rata-rata 2.67 dan 2.64. Berdasarkan hasil tes kosa kata, data menunjukkan bahwa nilai tertinggi adalah 83 dan terendah 25. Ditemukan pula adanya hubungan antara penguasaan kosa kata dan strategi belajar kosa kata (r-nilai= 1) Hubungan tersebut ditemukan pada strategi penentuan, strategi sosial, strategi memori, dan strategi metakognitif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara penguasaan kosakata siswa dan strategi mereka dalam belajar kosa kata. Hubungan itu pada strategi penentuan (0.904), strategi sosial (0.637), strategi memori (0.788), dan strategi metakognitif (0.730) dan r-tabelnya adalah 0.463 pada tingkat signifikan 0.05 (p<0.05). Sedangkan pada strategi kognitif tidak ditemukan adanya hubungan karena nilai signifikannya lebih tinggi dari 0.05 (p>0.05) dan r-nilainya adalah 0.534. The purpose of this study was to identify vocabulary learning strategies which were employed by the second year students of SMA Muhammadiyah 2 Bandar Lampung and to explore the frequency of their strategies use in order to find out the relationship between students vocabulary mastery and their strategies in learning vocabulary. The sample of this research was class XI IPS 2. Random sampling was used to select the sample of the study. There were two variables in this research; vocabulary mastery and vocabulary learning strategies. The researcher used a 32-item questionnaire adapted from Schmitt’s taxonomy for vocabulary learning strategies. The data were analyzed by using Pearson Correlation Product Moment in Statistical Packaged for Social Science (SPSS) version 16.0. The result showed that determination strategy was the most frequently used by the successful students with the mean score was 4.80. Then, the poor students mostly used metacognitive strategy with the mean score was 3.50. But both successful and poor students used cognitive strategy in low frequency with the mean score were 2.67 and 2.64. Based on the data of vocabulary test result, it showed that the highest score was 83 and the lowest score was 25. It was found that there was a relationship between students’ vocabulary mastery and their vocabulary learning strategies (r-value = 1). The relationship was found on determination strategy (0.904), social strategy (0.637), memory strategy (0.788), and metacognitive strategy (0.730) and the r-table was 0.463 at the significant level 0.05 (p<0.05). While there was no relationship for cognitive strategy because the significant value was higher than 0.05 (p>0.05) and the r-value was 0.534.
