ABSTRACT DISCOVERY LEARNING MODEL FOR INSTRUCTIONAL SOCIAL STUDIES IN GRADE FOUR OF PRIMARY SCHOOL2 MERAK BELANTUNG by HASMA HANDAYANI The aim of this study was to improve the quality of learning by analyzing and finding out accurately: (1) the design of the learning plan social studies material appearance of natural, social and cultural with the symptoms, learning model discovery, (2) the process of learning social studies using model discovery, (3) the process of evaluation of learning outcomes at the end of the learning activities, (4) improved learning outcomes social sciences. The method used this study was a three-phase action research cycle. Discovery first cycle based on test results daily tests social sciences, discovery cycle II is based on the test results the first cycle, the third cycle discovery based test cycle II.Place of research at Primary School 2 MerakBelantung material natural appearance, social and cultural symptomatically.Data were collected using observation and tests, and the qualitative descriptive analysis was then used to analyze the collected data. Results of the study are: (1) the manufacture of learning design begins with the needs of learners who do not understand the material prerequisites style appearance, social and cultural, continue preparing the purpose of learning is to identify natural features, social and cultural symptomatically and discovery strategy, (2) the learning process with learning model discovery increases the activity of learners in the learning, (3) evaluation of learning outcomes using a written test about the description of the validity of 0.88, 0.99 reliability, level of difficulty and the matter is being well received about the different power, (4) the thoroughness of the cognitive learning learners from minimum completeness criteria fourth grade reached 80% and 80% affective. Keywords: learning outcomes, social studies, discovery learning model ABSTRAK MODEL PEMBELAJARAN DISCOVERY LEARNING UNTUKPEMBELAJARAN IPS DI KELAS IV SEKOLAH DASAR NEGERI 2 MERAK BELANTUNG Oleh HASMA HANDAYANI Penelitianinibertujuanuntukmemperbaikikualitaspembelajarandenganmenganalisisdanmenemukandengantepat:(1)desainperencanaanpembelajaranIPS materiKenampakanalam, sosialdanbudayadengangejalanya, dengan model pembelajarandiscovery,(2)proses pembelajaranIPS menggunakanmodel pembelajarandiscovery,(3)proses evaluasihasilbelajardi akhirkegiatanpembelajaran,(4)peningkatanhasilbelajarIPS.Penelitianinimerupakanpenelitiantindakandengantigasiklus.Discoverysiklus I berdasarkanhasiltesulanganharianIPS,discoverysiklus II berdasarkanhasiltessiklus I, discoverysiklus III berdasarkantessiklus II.Tempatpenelitian di SDN 2 MerakBelantungmaterikenampakanalam, sosialdanbudayadengangejalanya.Data dikumpulkandenganobservasidantes, dandianalisisdeskriptifkualitatif.Hasilpenelitianadalah:(1)pembuatandesainpembelajarandiawalidengankebutuhanbelajarpesertadidik yang belummemahamimateriprasyaratkenampakanalam, sosialdanbudaya, dilanjutkanmenyusuntujuanpembelajaranyaitumengidentifikasikenampakanalam, sosialdanbudayadengangejalanyadanstrategidiscovery,(2)proses pembelajarandengan model pembelajarandiscoverymeningkatkanhasilbelajarpesertadidikdalampembelajaran, (3)evaluasihasilbelajarmenggunakantestertulissoaluraiandenganvaliditas0,88, reliabilitas 0,99, tingkatkesukaransoalsedangdandayabedasoalditerimabaik,(4)ketuntasanhasilbelajarkognitifpesertadidikkelasIVmencapai KKMdenganpersentase 80% danafektif 80%.
