Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui upaya guru dalam pembentukan karakter siswa, bagaimana mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran IPS, dan melihat faktor pendukung dan penghambat dalam proses pembentukan karakter siswa . Metode penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif, deskriptif dengan berbagai macam prosedur. Tempat penelitian pada SMPN 7 Kotabumi. Waktu penelitian bulan Januari sampai dengan bulan Maret 2014. Subjek penelitian dalam hal ini berkaitan langsung dengan upaya guru IPS untuk mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran IPS. Sedangkan objek penelitiannya adalah guru pelajaran IPS, kepala sekolah, guru bimbingan konseling, dan siswa VIII. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dimanfaatkan antara lain: observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis interaktif terdiri dari tiga alur yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Temuan penelitian ini adalah guru mengupayakan pembentukan karakter siswa, dengan melakukan berbagai macam program antara lain diadakan oleh kepala sekolah kepada guru, oleh guru kepada siswa. Program yang diadakan untuk siswa dilakukan dalam kelas dan luar kelas. Di dalam kelas dengan cara: pertama mengintegrasikan pendidikan karakter dalam pembelajaran IPS, kedua mengkaitkan pembelajaran dengan kehidupan sehari-hari. Ketiga guru menggunakan metode-metode yang dapat memotivasi belajar siswa. Dalam proses belajar mengajar guru memanfaatkan metode, adapun metode yang digunakan adalah ceramah bervariasi, tanya jawab, diskusi, role playing, CTL dan lain sebagainya. Metode yang berpengaruh dalam pembelajaran tersebut adalah ceramah dan diskusi, karena dengan metode yang bervariasi siswa termotivasi sedangkan diluar kelas dilakukan dengan berbagai macam program antara lain kegiatan intrakurikuler dan ektrakurikuler. Program intrakulikuler seperti: upacara bendera, kegiatan iman dan taqwa, sholat berjama’ah. Kegiatan ektrakurikuler antara lain melalui organisasi siswa intra sekolah, penyaluran bakat dan hobi. Adapun faktor pendukung antara lain adalah SDM berkwalitas sarana prasarana lengkap, peran aktif kepala sekolah dan guru, sedangkan faktor penghambat adalah latar belakang siswa berasa dari lingkungan yang berbeda-beda sehingga sulit membentuk karakter siswa seperti: kurangnya pengetahuan moral siswa, penanaman moral siswa kurang optimal, kurang tauladan guru, perawatan sarana dan prasarana kurang maksimal, dan kurangnya perhatian orang tua murid. This study aims to investigate teacher’s attempts to build student’s characters, the integration of character education into social learning, and supporting and hindering factors in the process of building student’s characters. This study employed the qualitative descriptive method involving a variety of procedures. The research setting were SMPN 7 Kotabumi. This study was conducted from January to March 2014. The research subjects were social. Science teachers, principlas, guidance and counseling teachers, and students of VIII. The research objects comprised anything related to the attempls made by social science teachers to integrate character education into social science learning. The data were analyzed using the interactive analysis consisting of three step, namely data reducation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The research findings show that the teachers make attempts to build the student’s characters through a variety of programs, such as those initiated by the principals for the teachers and by the teachers for the students. The programs for the student are conducted inside and outside the classrooms. The programs inside the classrooms are conducted, first, by integrating character education into social science learning; second, by relating learning to daily life;and third, by applying methods that can motivate the students. In the teachingand learning processes, the teachers apply some methods, including varied lecturing, questions and answers, discussions, role playing, CTL methods, and others. The methods that have effects on learning are the lecturing and disccutions methods, because the students ore motivated by a variety of medhods. Meanwhile, the programs outside the classrooms are conducted throught a variety of activities, such as intra-curricular and extra-curricular activities, and saying prayers together. The extra-curricular activities include intra-school students organizations and hobby-and-interest related activities.The supporting factors include qualified human resources, complete infrastructure and facilities, principal’s and other teacher’s active roles in the activities, while the hindering factors include the students varied backgrounds which make it diffcult to build their characters, indicated by the lack of their moral knowledge the inculcations of the student’s moral that is not optimum, the lack of the teacher’s examples, the infrastructure and facility maintenance that is not optimum, and tahe lack of attention from the student’s parents.
