Abstrak

The aim of this research is to investigate the improvement of students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught by using information gap technique. The subject of this research was thirty of the second year students’ from SMA Negeri 12 Bandar Lampung. The study employed one pre test and post test design by giving a pre test, three times treatment, and post test. The pre test and post test consist of 5 aspects to collect the data. The results show that there is an improvement of the students’ reading comprehension after being taught through information gap technique. The aspect of reading comprehension which is most improved is vocabulary. On the other hand, specific information is the aspect of reading comprehension which is less improved by information gap technique. From the result it shows that the mean score improve from 53.50 to 72.00. Besides, the improve of main idea is 13.8% specific information is 6.67%, inference is 13.7%, reference is 20.95%, and vocabulary is 32.67%. Based on the result, it can be concluded that there was an improvement of the students’ reading comprehension achievement after being taught by using information gap technique at second grade of SMA Negeri 12 Bandar Lampung.
