ABSTRACT DESIGN FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF MUHAMMAD TAUFIK KIEMAS AIRPORT PESISIR BARAT – LAMPUNG By SYAIF AL ISLAM INDRIYANTO The construction and development of transportation has a close relationship and interrelated with each other with the construction and development of the region. The construction and development of transportation needs to pay attention and look at the aspects that exist in regional development. The construction and development of transportation needs to pay attention to and look at the aspects that exist in regional development, both of them can become a system that shapes and supports economic growth and development in a region. The success of developing an area is determined by the role of the transportation sector, especially airports. The airport has a role as a gateway for economic activity in an effort to distribute development, growth and economic stability as well as the alignment of national development and regional development which is described as the location and area around the airport which is the entrance and exit of economic activity. The background factor is the condition of access that is already in need if viewed from the tourist objects and the increase of the airport passengers. Decree of the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia Number KM 314 Years 2020 concerning the Master Plan for Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport in Pesisir Barat Regency, Lampung Province, for the development and construction of Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport. Lack of Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport facilities on the air and land sides. Determining the design for the Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport development plan whose basic concept is adopted from the characteristics of Pesisir Barat region. Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport is an Airport located in Pekon Serai, Pesisir Tengah District which was built in order to support the plans of the central and regional governments to make the Krui-Liwa route a new center of economic growth in the West corridor or the West coast area of Sumatra Island. This airport is expected to be an entry point for tourists to various tourist destinations in the Pesisir Barat Regency. The process of redesigning/ developing Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport with a Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach, the author focuses on the design of the arrangement of Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport facilities on the land side and the air side which has its own zoning per activity function. The physical design of the building can be a characteristic and pride of the Pesisir Barat area. The main concept of the design use the concept of the Neo-Vernacular Architecture approach which is a blend of traditional architecture and modern architecture, which is oriented to the development model while maintaining the existing design in an region but created with modern technology. In planning the redesign concept of Muhammad Taufik Kiemas Airport, it was based on the idea of making an airport where in general the airport is a stopover place to the destination, but with this, the author wants to create a concept where the airport becomes a stopover place but still provides its own memories, so that anyone who uses this airport still feels the holiday atmosphere on the Pesisir Barat. By applying the concept of a Neo-Vernacular approach, the resulting airport building theme is "holiday" and can maintain the traditional atmosphere but uses postmodern technology, and materials that exist today. This concept carries an atmosphere on the outside and inside of the building that gives the impression of memories, interior and exterior on the redesign of Muhammad Taufik Keimas Airport adapting the Siger Saibatin form with 7 (seven) curves and a beach atmosphere which is a holiday destination as a tourist destination for regional and foreign tourism.
