Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
Speaking is one of the language skills that demands students to express their idea. In teaching speaking to the elementary the attractive technique is necessary. Considering that fun is needed to make the students comfortable in expressing their idea, the use of board game is applicable. There are some benefits in teaching speaking using games; interesting, enjoyable and motivating. Puzzles and games are obvious types of self-mpotivating material. They have strong appeal to elementary school students. This quantitive study reports a research conducted in fifth year of SD Al Azhar 1 bandar Lampung to find out whether there is significant improvement of the students’ speaking ability taught through board game. In doing so, the researcher used one group pretest postest design. The population of the research was the fifth year of SD al Azhar 1 Bandar Lampung. The sample was taken randomly trhough lottery. To collect the data, pretest and posttest were administered. There were two raters to judge students’ speaking ability. Repeated measure T-Test was used to analyze the data and the hypothesis testing was computed using SPSS version 18 at the significance level of p<0.05. The results of the research show that there is significant improvement of SD Al Azhar Students’ speaking ability taught through board game. The Hypothesis testing showed that the mean scores of experimental class increased significantly from pretest to posttest (p<0.05;p= 0.00). Referring to the result above, it can be concluded that board game is applicable to improve students’ speaking ability.
