Abstract

This research aims to describe the aspects of sustainable agriculture—including ecological, economic, and social aspects—of organic vegetable farming practices based on the perspective of the perpetrator farmers. The research uses a qualitative approach with a case study method on the Mawar Bodas Women Farmers Group (KWT) in Bumi Jaya Village, Candipuro District, South Lampung Regency. Data was collected through in-depth observations and interviews with directly involved informants. The results of the study show that the practice of organic vegetable farming in Bumi Jaya Village has sustainable characteristics, although the number of actors is still limited. Ecologically, these practices support the conservation of resources and the provision of ecosystem services. From an economic perspective, this activity is considered feasible because of the existence of marketing intermediaries that accommodate crops at premium prices. Socially, organic farming is well received by the community, as can be seen from the positive views of residents and farmers' pride in producing healthy and environmentally friendly products. These findings suggest that organic vegetable farming practices at the local level have the potential to support sustainable farming systems. Keywords: organic farming; agricultural sustainability; smallholder farmers; organic vegetables; farmer perspective.
