Abstrak Evaluasi keturunan biasanya dikaitkan dengan kemampuan tetua dalam suatu persilangan yang disebut daya gabung. Daya gabung adalah kemampuan genotipe untuk mewariskan karakter yang diinginkan (sifat interest) kepada keturunannya. Evaluasi daya gabung merupakan salah satu cara menilai kemamampuan kedua inbred untuk mewariskan sifat interest mereka kepada zuriat hibrida F1. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: (1) mengevaluasi daya gabung tetua inbred kepada zuriat kuning kisut polinasi terbuka; (2) mengetahui adanya ragam genetik dan heritabilitas untuk sifat-sifat interest yang dievaluasi; dan (3) mendapatkan jagung manis kuning kisut pada tongkolnya. Penelitian ini dilakukan dalam Rancangan Acak Kelompok Lengkap (RAKL) dengan tiga ulangan. Data dianalisis ragam untuk mendapatkan kuadrat nilai tengah dan kuadrat nilai tengah harapan yang akan digunakan untuk menduga ragam genetik dan heritabilitas. Ragam genetik (σ2g) dan heritabilitas broad Tanti Yunita Saputri sense (h2BS) dihitung menggunakan model matematika berdasarkan Hallauer dan Miranda. Analisis daya gabung dilakukan dengan analisis boxplot. Segregasi biji jagung manis true type dihitung dengan cara membandingkan jumlah biji kisut dengan jumlah biji seluruhnya dalam satu tongkol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, daya gabung umum terbukti pada karakter tinggi tanaman, posisi tongkol, jumlah daun, jumlah malai, panjang tongkol, dan jumlah baris biji. Daya gabung khusus terbukti pada karakter diameter tongkol, dan kadar sukrosa. Nilai ragam genetik (σ2g) dan heritabilitas broad-sense (h2BS) berbeda dari nol untuk karakter jumlah daun, jumlah malai, dan diameter tongkol. Dari 15 tongkol jagung manis kuning kisut yang diamati. Rasa manis pada jagung manis ditentukan oleh bentuk tampilan kisut pada biji jagung manis. Berdasarkan jumlah biji kisut, dapat dilihat bahwa hampir semua sampel yang diamati membawa sifat manis dengan perbandingan 12:4. Abstract The progeny analysis is commonly related with the ability of parents in a cross known as combining ability. The combining ability is the ability of genotypes to inherit characters of interest to their progenies. The evaluation of combining ability is a mean to estimate the capacity of both parental inbreds to inherit their characters of interest to their F1 hybrid progenies. This study intended to: (1) evaluate the combining ability of parental inbreds to their-pollinated shrunken yellow progeny; (2) asses the presence of genetic variance and heritabilty for characters of interest to be evaluated; and (3) obtain the having shrunken yellow sweet corn on its ears. This study was accomplished in a Randomized Complete-Block Design (RCBD) with three replications. Data was analyzed for the variances to estimate for its mean squares and expected means squares to be utilized to estimate genetic variance and heritability. Genetic variance (σ2g) and broad-sense heritability Tanti Yunita Saputri (h2BS) were calculated following mathematical model developed by Hallauer and Miranda. The combining ability analysis was done using boxplot analysis. The seed segregation of true-type sweet corn was calculated in a way of comparing the number of shrunken-seeds with the total number of seeds in the ear. Base on the result of this study, the general combining ability were proven on the characters of plant height, ear position, leaf number, male-inflorencence spike number, ear length, and seed row number. The specific combining ability was proven on the characters of ear diameter and sugar content. The values of genetic variation and heritability were different from zero for the characters of leaf number, male-inflorencence spike number, and ear diameter. All of 15 sweet corn ears under study were shrunken yellow sweet corn. The sweet taste of sweet corn was determined by the shrunkeness of the sweet-corn seeds. Based on the shrunken-seed number, it was proven that almost all of the observed samples inherited the character of sweetness with a ratio 12:4.
