Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

ABSTRACT There were many techniques that can be applied in teaching and learning activity in order to make students more active and help the students increase their mastery in English especially in structure. One of them is Practice, Generalization and Reinforcement, or known as PGR Technique. Through this technique the students are introduced to the real use of the structure in the context. This was a descriptive research, which is intended to investigate how is the process of teaching learning present prefect tense by using Practice, Generalization and Reinforcement Technique. The second is to find out the students’ problems in learning present perfect tense by using PGR technique and the last is to find out the teacher’s problem in teaching present perfect tense by using PGR technique. This research was conducted at SMPN 07 Bandar Lampung. The researcher used one class as experimental class of the six class of second grade that was class VIIIA. The class consisted of 38 students. In collecting data, the researcher employed observation, interview and questionnaire. In the process of teaching and learning present perfect tense by using PGR Technique, it can be concluded that Practice, Generalization and Reinforcement technique could make students active since all the students enjoy the teaching and learning process and most of the students can follow and understand the lesson more quickly and also help the students in expressing or making sentences in the form of present perfect tense. The researcher also find the students’ problems in learning present perfect tense by using PGR technique, there were 10 students (26,31%) have difficulty in remembering the formula of present perfect tense and also they did know the verb in past participle. And the last the problem faced by the teacher in the teaching present perfect tense by using PGR technique was difficulty in controlling the big class.
