Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Pada penelitian ini, biomassa alga Tetraselmis sp telah dimodifikasi dengan silika-magnetit menggunakan metode sol-gel, dan kemudian diuji sebagai adsorben ion Cd(II) dan Pb(II), dengan tujuan untuk membandingkan kapasitas adsorpsi dari adsorben Tetraselmis sp-silika (TS) dan Tetraselmis sp-silika-magnetit (TSM). Kedua adsorben dikarakterisasi menggunakan beberapa teknik, antara lain Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy untuk mengidentifikasi gugus fungsi yang ada dalam contoh dan X-ray diffraction (XRD) untuk mengukur fasa kristalin. Untuk mengetahui daya adsorpsi dari adsorben, rangkaian percobaan telah dilakukan pada pH berbeda dan konsentrasi logam berbeda ditentukan menggunakan Spektrofotometer Serapan Atom (SSA). Hasil menunjukkan bahwa untuk ion Cd(II) dari adsorben TS optimum pada pH = 7 dengan kapasitas adsorpsi 70,25 mg/g dan untuk TSM optimum pada pH = 4, dengan kapasitas adsorpsi 80,29 mg/g, dan untuk ion Pb(II) optimum pada pH = 5 untuk kedua adsorben, dengan kapasitas adsorpsi yang sama 109,05 mg/g. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa adsorben mampu menyerap ion logam hingga 90%. Isoterm adsorpsi menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi mengikuti isoterm Langmuir, dengan R2 = 0,98-0,99. Energi adsorpsi berada di kisaran 24-27 kJ mol-1, menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi berlangsung melalui interaksi kimia antara ion logam dan adsorben. ABSTRACT BAHASA INGGRIS THE TECHNIQUE OF SILICA-MAGNET COATING FOR PREPARATION OF ALGAE BIOMASS Tetraselmis sp as ADSORBENT FOR Cd(II) AND Pb(II) IONS In this research, biomass algae Tetraselmis sp was modified with silica-magnetite using sol-gel method, and tested as adsorbents for Cd(II) and Pb(II) from water, with the main purpose to compare the adsorption capacity of the adsorbent Tetraselmis sp-silica (TS) and Tetraselmis sp-silica-magnetite (TSM). Both adsorbents were characterized using several techniques. The Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was applied to identify the functional groups present in the samples and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the crystalline phases. To study adsorption performance of the adsorbent, a series of experiments was conducted at different pHs and concentrations of the different metals were determined using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results revealed that for Cd(II) of TS adsorbent the optimum pH is 7 with the adsorption capacity of 70.25 mg/g, for TSM the optimum pH is 4, with the adsorption capacity of 80.29 mg/g, and for Pb(II), the optimum pH is 5 for both adsorbents, with the same adsorption capacity of 109.05 mg/g. The results obtained revealed that the adsorbents were able to adsorb the metal ions up to 90%. Adsorption isotherms showed that the adsorption followed the Langmuir isotherm, with R2 = 0.98-0.99, with the adsorption energies are in the range of 24-27 kJ mol-1, indicating that the adsorption took place through the chemical interaction between the metal ions and adsorbents.
