Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
In Indonesia, one of the important of English language skills is reading. However, many of students still have difficulties in comprehending the text. As a matter of fact, the students’ achievements in reading comprehension are far from the goal being expected. Therefore, the objective of this research is to find out whether there is any significant increase of students’ reading comprehension achievement after they are taught through SQ3R technique. The subjects of the research were the students of the second year of SMPN 9 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2011/2012. The class consisted of thirty students. The research design was independent one group pretest posttest design and data were taken from the test and then they were analyzed by using Repeated Measure t-test. The result of the data shows that the students’ achievement in reading comprehension of folktale increased after they were taught through SQ3R technique. It has been proven by the gain (15,3) of the students’ mean score in posttest that is higher than the mean score in pretest. The improvement of the mean is from 63.2 in the pretest up to 78.5 in the posttest. The researcher used Repeated Measure t-Test at the level significance (0.05) to prove whether the hypothesis was accepted or not. The computation showed that t-ratio (17.013) is much bigger than the t–table (2.045), it means t-ratio>t-table. It can be concluded that the students’ reading comprehension achievement of folktale increases through SQ3R technique. In other word, the hypothesis is accepted.
