Latar belakang: Pengembangan sumber daya manusia untuk tenaga medis menjadi salah satu dari delapan fokus prioritas rencana pengembangan tenaga kesehatan di Indonesia. Identifikasi faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan karier sebagai dokter spesialis pada dokter muda di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung perlu dilakukan guna meminimalisir faktor penghambat. Tujuan: Analisis faktor yang mempengaruhi pemilihan karier sebagai dokter spesialis dan mengetahui persentase pemilihan karier sebagai spesialis pada dokter muda Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung. Metode: Penelitian dengan desain kuantitatif observasional, bersifat deskriptif dan menggunakan pendekatan potong lintang. Hasil: Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa 56.25% responden yang memilih karier sebagai spesialis di bidang mayor. Dari lima faktor yang di analisis mayoritas responden setuju faktor karakteristik bidang spesialis (52.49%), pengalaman selama menempuh pendidikan kedokteran (44.80%) dan, pertimbangan perkembangan karier di masa depan (46.75%) memiliki pengaruh terhadap pemilihan karier sebagai dokter spesialis. Simpulan: Faktor - faktor yang di analisis memiliki pengaruh yang bervariasi terhadap pemilihan karier sebagai dokter muda Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung Kata kunci: dokter muda, dokter spesialis, karier kedokteran, pendidikan kedokteran abstract Background: Human resources development in medical department is considered as one out of eight focus priority of Indonesian government plan to develop health department. The identification of factors that associated with the choice of specialist as a career among young doctors in University of Lampung Medical School is a need to minimalize the factors that causing the delayed development of human resources in medical department. Objective : The purpose of this research is identify factors associated with the choice of specialist as a career and the specialist career choice among young doctors in University of Lampung Medical School. Method: This research was designed as a quantitative observational research with cross sectional approach. Results: The results showed that 56.25% respondent choose a career as a major specialist. From five factors analyzed, majority of the respondents agree that characteristics of the specialty (52.49%), experience at a medical school (44.80%), and considering future work condition (46.75) are factors that influence their career choice as a specialist and the rest of factors analyzed is having less influence to their career choice as a specialist. Conclusion: It can be concluded that from five factors analyzed, there was a variation of agreement that influence young doctors career choice as a specialist.
