Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
Natural rubber is a latex or isoprene polymer (C3H8) n obtained from rubber tree skin tapping (Havea Brasiliensis). Before it is marketed, latex was coagulated by acid. Coagulation is the process of clumping latex into solids. Coagulation is divided into two kinds of natural coagulation and artificial coagulation. In this study used two kinds of coagulant substances namely mengkudu and alum. Mengkudu (Morinda Citrifolia) is one of the plants that can bear fruit throughout the year. Aluminum sulphate compound (Al2(SO4)3) or often called alum is a commonly used type of coagulant. To determine the influence of mengkudu and alum on the mechanical properties of rubber then do tensile testing. Rubber was made into 8 samples with additional variation of mengkudu or alum 2.44%, 4.76%, 6.98% and 9.09%. Preparation of the sample rubber is as follows. Firstly, latex was inserted into the measuring cup. Secondly, added the variation of coagulant volume into the measuring cup. Thirdly, mix it for 2 minutes. Fourthly, pour the rubber sap that has been mixed into the mold container. After the rubber hardens, then press the rubber using a press machine for 30 minutes with a loading of 8 tons. Finally, heating the rubber for curing for 20 minutes at 150 OC. The tensile test standard is ASTM D 412. The results showed that the fastest coagulation time mengkudu was 10 minutes and alum was 20 minutes. The highest tensile strength of 2,44% natural rubber-mengkudu was 0.51 MPa. The lowest tensile strength of 9.09% natural rubber-tawas was 0.32 MPa. The highest tensile strain of 2.44% natural rubber-mengkudu was 903.89%. The lowest tensile strain of 4.76% natural rubber-mengkudu was 705.32%. Keywords: Natural Rubber, Mengkudu, Tawas, Tensile Test
