Salah satu usaha pemerintah untuk mengembalikan hutan sesuai fungsinya adalah dengan menetapkan kawasan pelestarian alam berupa Taman Hutan Raya Wan Abdul Rachman (Tahura WAR). Pada kenyataanya Tahura WAR telah mengalami fluktuasi perubahan tutupan lahan pada setiap periode tahun dimulai dari tahun 1994-2014. Perubahan luas dan fungsi penggunaan lahan hutan ini sebagian besar diakibatkan oleh adanya interaksi masyarakat dalam pengelolaan lahan hutan di Tahura WAR yang ditandai dengan kegiatan pengelolaan lahan di dalam kawasan hutan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat interaksi dan faktor penyebabnya yang dilakukan masyarakat sekitar Tahura WAR. Analisis korelasi product moment digunakan untuk melihat hubungan yang nyata antar variabel bebas (tingkat interaksi)dan variabel terikat (luas lahan garapan, pendapatan dan jumlah anggota keluarga). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian tingkat interaksi yang dilakukan masyarakat dalam pemanfaatan lahan Tahura WAR tergolong sedang. Hal ini terlihat dari kegiatan pemanfaatan, pelestarian dan perlindungan hutan yang dilakukan masyarakat. Hasil penelitian menunjukan tingkat interaksi yang terjadi tergolong sedang pada taraf signifikan 5% dengan nilai harga kritik 0,207 hanya dipengaruhi oleh luas lahan garapan dan tingkat pendapatan responden sehingga perubahan luas lahan garapan dan tingkat pendapatan masyarakat berpengaruh terhadap tingkat interaksi yang dilakukan dalam pemanfaatan kawasan Tahura WAR. One of the government efforts to restore the forest to its function is by setting a conservation area called the Wan Abdul Rachman forest park (Tahura WAR). In the reality, the land cover change of Tahura WAR has fluctuated in each period of the year started from 1994-2004. The change of land area and the change of the function on the use of forest are mostly caused by the interaction of people in managing the land in Tahura WAR which is detected by the activity done in the forest. This research is aimed to find out the level of people’s interaction around the Tahura WAR and its causative factors. Product moment correlation analysis is used to discover the relationship between independent variable (level of interaction) and dependent variable (arable land area, income, and number of family members). Based on the research, the interaction level done by people in the use of Tahura WAR is medium. It can be seen from the land use of forest, the preservation of forest, and the protection of forest done by the people. The result shows that the level of interaction that occurs is medium. The factors that influence the interaction in the level of significant 5% with the r value 0.207 are the arable land area and the respondents’income. The r value 0.207 is the value that is used as a benchmark to see the closeness of each factor that influence the interaction. Key words: income, interaction, land area, Tahura WAR.
