Indonesia tentu memiliki kepentingan yang kuat bekerjasama dalam bidangmaritim dengan Jepang. Walaupun Indonesia dan Jepang telah tergabung dalamExpanded ASEAN Maritime Forum (EAMF)yang didalamnya terdapat Indonesia dan Jepang, kedua negara ini tetap memilih untuk membentuk hubungan bilateral di bidang maritim diluar EAMF, yaitu dengan membentuk Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum. Penelitian ini bertujuanuntuk mengetahui tujuan khusus kebijakan luar negeri Indonesia mengenai Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum serta untuk mengetahui kepentingan nasional Indonesia dan intensitas kepentingan nasional Indonesiaterhadap Jepang dalam Japan–Indonesia Maritime Forum periode 2017-2018.Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis data sekunder yang utamanya berasal dari The Joint Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan andCoordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesiaon theoccasion of the visit of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Lt. Gen. (Retired)Luhut B. Pandjaitan to Japan. Penelitian inimenggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan dengan mengacu pada konsep kepentingan nasional dan teori kebijakan luar negeri. Hasil dari penelitian inimemperlihatkan bahwa tujuan khusus kebijakan luar negeri Indonesia mengenai Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum adalah tujuan inti.Terdapat empat kepentingan nasional Indonesia terhadap Jepang dalam Japan-IndonesiaMaritime Forum Periode 2017-2018, yaitu kepentingan pertahanan, ekonomi, tatanan dunia, dan ideologi. Intensitas dari keempat kepentingan tersebut adalah major yaitu ketika politik, ekonomi, dan ideologi negara dapat dipengaruhi oleh peristiwa dan trend pada dunia internasional.Kepentingan nasional Indonesia terhadap Jepang dalam Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forumperiode 2017-2018adalah upayaPresiden Jokowidalam mewujudkan Indonesia sebagai Poros Maritim Dunia. Kata kunci : Kepentingan Nasional, Indonesia, Jepang, Maritime, Forum Indonesia certainly has a strong interest in cooperation in the maritime field with Japan. Although Indonesia and Japan have joined in the Expanded ASEAN Maritime Forum (EAMF), yet the two countries continue to choose to build bilateral relations in the maritime field outside of EAMF, that is by establishing the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum. This study aims to analyze the specific objectives of Indonesia's foreign policy regarding the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum and to find out Indonesia's national interests and the intensity of Indonesia's national interests towards Japan in the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum for the period 2017-2018. The data used in this study is the secondary data which mainly come from the Joint Press Release by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan and Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia on the occasion of the Visit of Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs. Gen. (Retired) Luhut B. Pandjaitan to Japan. This research uses qualitative research methods and employs to the concepts of national interest and foreign policy theory. The results of this study show that the specific objectives of Indonesia's foreign policy regarding the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum are the core objectives. This study finds that there are four Indonesian national interests towards Japan in the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum for the period 2017-2018, namely, the interests of defense, economy, world order and ideology. The intensity of these four interests is a major, namely when the political, economic and ideological state can be influenced by events and trends in the international world. Indonesia's national interest in Japan in the Japan-Indonesia Maritime Forum for the 2017-2018 Period is President Jokowi's efforts to realize Indonesia as the World Maritime Nexus.
