Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

The objectives of this research were to find out whether intensive reading technique can improve students’ vocabulary achievement on content words and to find out which aspect of content words improved the most after the implementation of intensive reading technique. The population of this research was the second grader students of SMA Al-Azhar 3 Bandar Lampung in the academic year 2018/2019. The sample of this research was XI A that consisted of 30 students. The data were in forms of vocabulary test score with multiple choice questions that were taken from the pretest and posttest and were analyzed by using Repeated Measure T-test. The results of this research showed that: first, there was a significant improvement in the students’ vocabulary achievement after they were taught by using intensive reading since the t-value was higher than t-table (4.766>2.045). It could be seen from the result of the mean score from the pre-test to the post-test, which was 58.41 in the pre-test and improved to 68.5 in the post-test. In addition, the adjective was the type of content words which improved the most after the implementation of the intensive reading technique. The second result with the questionnaire. It showed that the students were satisfied with intensive reading technique. The students agreed that the techniques helped them to learn English better, improved their vocabulary and helped them to recognize their lack. This indicates that intensive reading technique facilitates the students to improve their vocabulary mastery. Keyword: improve, vocabulary test, intensive reading technique.
