Abstract

Bawang merah merupakan salah satu komoditas sayuran yang mempunyai nilai jual tinggi. Pengolahan bawang khususnya pengupasan, memiliki kendala yaitu kesulitan membersihkan kulit bawang dan memerlukan waktu yang cukup lama untuk mengupasnya. Hal ini menimbulkan ide untuk membuat teknologi yang dapat mengatasi masalah pengupasan kulit bawang, Teknologi tersebut adalah alat pengupas kulit bawang portable skala rumah tangga dengan menggunakan tenaga motor listrik. Metode yang digunakan adalah dengan cara merotasikan bawang merah dengan jumlah banyak maupun sedikit dipermukaan atas tabung berlubang dengan kecepatan tertentu. Saat bawang berotasi atau berputar akan terjadi benturan ke sebuah karet pengupas yang telah disusun disebuah plat. Proses pengupasan dapat terjadi jika bawang tergores oleh karet-karet pengupas tersebut. Karet tersebut berfungsi sebagai pembantu dalam pengupasan bawang dangan cara membenturkannya. Kata kunci: Bawang merah, alat pengupas, motor listrik Shallots are one of the vegetable commodities that have a high selling value. Onion processing, especially stripping, has obstacles, namely the difficulty of cleaning onion peels and requires a long time to peel them. This gave rise to the idea of creating a technology that could solve the problem of stripping onion peels. The technology is a household-scale portable onion peeler using electric motor power. The method used is by rotating onions in large quantities or slightly on the surface of a hollow tube at a certain speed. When the onion rotates or rotates, there will be an impact to a peeling rubber that has been arranged on a plate. The stripping process can occur if the onion is scratched by the peeling rubbers.
