Taman Nasional Way Kambas merupakan salah satu taman nasional yang terle- tak di Kecamatan Labuhan Ratu, Lampung Timur. Taman nasional ini memiliki 4 tipe ekosistem yakni, ekosistem hutan hujan dataran rendah, ekosistem hutan ra- wa, ekosistem mangrove, dan ekosistem hutan pantai. Beberapa dari ekosistem ini terancam menurun akibat perubahan status kawasan dan aktivitas nelayan. Peneli- tian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji nilai kesesuaian kawasan konservasi dan tingkat kekritisan kawasan mangrove di daerah penyangga Taman Nasional Way kambas dengan menggunakan parameter kesesuaian kawasan konservasi dan tingkat ke- kritisan kawasan mangrove. Pemetaan daerah penelitian dilakukan dengan meng- gunakan aplikasi pengindraan jarak jauh dan sistem informasi geografis. Hasil pe- nelitian menunjukkan bahwa semua stasiun penelitian termasuk dalam kategori sesuai (S1-S2) untuk dijadikan kawasan konservasi dan untuk kekritisan kawasan termasuk dalam kategori tidak rusak. Dengan demikian, status kawasan sebagai wilayah konservasi merupakan langkah yang tepat untuk melindungi ekosistem mangrove di pesisir Lampung Timur. Kata Kunci: Kesesuaian kawasan konservasi, kekritisan kawasan, mangrove, Taman Nasional Way Kambas Way Kambas National Park is one of the national parks located in Labuhan Ratu subdistrict, East Lampung. This national park has 4 types of ecosystems, namely, lowland rain forest ecosystems, swamp forest ecosystems, mangrove ecosystems, and coastal forest ecosystems. Some of these ecosystems are threatened with dec- line due to changes in the status of the area and fishery activities. This study aimed to assess the suitability value of the conservation area and the criticality le- vel of the mangrove area in the buffer zone, Way Kambas National Park by using the parameters of the suitability of the conservation area and the criticality level of the mangrove area. The mapping of the research area was carried out using remote sensing applications and geographic information systems.The results showed that all research stations were included in the "suitable" category (S1-S2) to be used as conservation areas and for critical areas included in the "not damaged" category. Thus, the status of the area as a conservation area was the right step to protect the mangrove ecosystem on the coast of East Lampung.
