ABSTRACT THE IMPACT OF LAND USE CHANGE ON FOOD SECURITY IN LAMPUNG SELATAN DISTRICT By ANDRIAN SAPUTRA The purpose of this study was to examine the level of land conversion and food security in South Lampung Regency, to determine the factors that influence land conversion, income and welfare of farmers who carry out land conversion. The method used in this research is a survey with a quantitative desgcriptive approach. Data was collected by interview with the help of a questionnaire. Respondents in this study were land conversion farmers and related government. The analytical method used is the land depreciation equation, which is to find the rate of land conversion that occurs in South Lampung Regency. Second, food security in South Lampung Regency by calculating the amount of food availability and food needs. Analysis of the three factors that influence land conversion to farmers using binary logit. Fourth, analysis of farmers' income from land conversion with the average difference of farmers' income on land conversion before and after land conversion. Fifth is the welfare of farmers with two indicators, namely consumption patterns and the theory of Sajogyo. Based on research data, it can be explained that the rate of land conversion in South Lampung Regency is 13.41%. The second aspect of food security in South Lampung Regency is an average food surplus of 168,609.11 tons per year, but there is still a decline in rice production in South Lampung Regency. The third aspect of the factors that influence farmers to change the function of the land is the area of land, the age of the farmer, and side jobs. The four aspects of land conversion cause a decrease in farmers' income from the on-farm sector. The five aspects of the welfare of farmers in land conversion with these two indicators can be said to be prosperous. Keywords: welfare, land use change, food, income.
