Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)
This research was intended to discover the effect of animated videos on students’ reading comprehension in descriptive text and students’ responses to animated videos as learning media. This was quantitative research with 30 samples taken from the second grade of SMPN 1 Atap 3 Kalianda. The researcher used one group pre-test post-test design in conducting the process of data collection. The data were gathered from the result of the pre-test and post-test to measure the significant effect and the questionnaire to find the students’ responses. After those data had been collected, the researcher used SPSS and Microsoft Excel to analyze the data. The results of the study show that there is a significant effect of animated videos as learning media on students' reading comprehension in descriptive text. Through hypothesis testing it is known that sig.2 tailed (0.000<0.05) which means ythe null hypothesis is rejected and the alternative hypothesis is accepted. This shows that animated video as learning media has a significant effect on students' reading comprehension in descriptive text. The result of the questionnaire about students’ responses to animated videos as learning media show that students respond positively to animated video as learning media. This can be seen from the students' positive response which achieve 85.28 which is higher than the negative response. In this study it can be concluded that animated video as learning media has a significant effect on students' reading comprehension in descriptive text, as a learning media animated video also received positive responses from students.
