Abstract
This research aims to explain the use of French grammar, with a focus on conjunctions and tenses, in cultural news texts from newspapers. In the Journalism course, the emphasis is on developing writing skills in a journalistic context to enhance students' understanding of the French language, grammar, and the correct use of conjunctions. The method used is qualitative descriptive, and the data collection techniques employed include documents and data cards. The data analyzed consists of French news texts from websites such as Le Monde, Le Figaro, Le Parisien, Libération, and La Croix, with a focus on cinema news and cultural sections. The research results indicate that there are 7 French conjunctions and 6 French tenses used in these French news texts. The most frequently used conjunctions are time conjunctions and opposition conjunctions, while the least frequently used conjunctions are consequence conjunctions and condition conjunctions. In the case of conditional conjunctions, their usage was not found in the French news text. Keywords: French newspapers, grammar, journalism
