Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses kreatif pembuatan kostum tari kesultanan pada Mata Kuliah Tata Busana Prodi Pendidikan Tari Universitas Lampung. Penelitian ini berfokus pada salah satu kelompok mahasiswa yang terdiri dari lima anggota, mengangkat tema kostum tari kesultanan sehingga kemudian disebut sebagai kelompok kesultanan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik analisis data yang dilakukan dengan langkah reduksi data, penyajian data dan penarikan kesimpulan. Teknik keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi sumber dengan mendapatkan data dari dosen pengampu mata kuliah tata busana, mahasiswa dan penjahit kostum tari kesultanan. Adapun teori yang digunakan pada penelitian ini yaitu teori Wallas menyebutkan proses kreatif meliputi empat tahapan, tahap persiapan, tahap inkubasi, tahap iluminasi dan tahap evaluasi. Pada tahap persiapan yaitu proses pembuatan tema, proses pembuatan desain, dan presentasi tema. Tahap Inkubasi yaitu proses pemilihan desain kostum tari dan proses observasi jenis bahan dan warna bahan. Tahap iluminasi proses pembuatan miniatur, proses pembuatan pola kostum, proses pembuatan kostum dan proses pembuatan aksesoris kostum kesultanan. Kemudian yang terakhir tahap evaluasi dimana pada tahap ini mahasiswa melakukan fitting kostum tari oleh model dan penilaian oleh dosen pengampu. Adapun temuan dari penelitian ini yaitu, dalam proses mendesain kostum tari Mahasiswa menggunakan aplikasi Ibis Paint X dan dari lima anggota kelompok terdapat satu mahasiswa yang lebih mendominasi dalam proses pembuatan kostumnya. Kata kunci : Proses kreatif, Pembuatan, Tata busana This research aims to describe the creative process of making imperial dance costumes in the Fashion Design Course at the Dance Education Study Program, University of Lampung. This research focuses on a student group consisting of five members, with the theme of Sultanate dance costumes so that it is then called the Sultanate group. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data analysis techniques are carried out using data reduction steps, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The data validity technique was carried out by triangulating sources by obtaining data from lecturers who taught fashion design courses, students and tailors of the Sultanate's dance costumes. The theory used in this research, namely Wallas' theory, states that the creative process includes four stages, preparation stage, incubation stage, illumination stage and evaluation stage. The preparation stage is the process of creating a theme, the process of creating a design, and presenting the theme. The incubation stage is the process of selecting a dance costume design and the process of observing the type of material and color of the material. The illumination stage is the process of making miniatures, the process of making costume patterns, the process of making costumes and the process of making accessories for imperial costumes. Then the final stage is the evaluation stage where at this stage the students carry out dance costume fittings by the model and assessment by the lecturer. The findings from this research are, in the process of designing dance costumes, students used the Ibis Paint Keywords : Creative process, making, fashion design
