Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

Kerak telah menjadi masalah yang cukup serius di bidang industri, terutama industri minyak dan gas. Oleh karena itu, dalam penelitian ini telah dilakukan penambahan inhibitor perpaduan senyawa ekstrak gambir dengan asam benzoat untuk mengurangi dampak negatif yang ditimbulkan oleh kerak tersebut. Pada penelitian ini telah dilakukan penambahan inhibitor terhadap kerak kalsium karbonat (CaCO3) dengan menggunakan metode penambahan bibit kristal (seeded experiment) pada konsentrasi CaCO3 sebesar 0,05, 0,075, dan 0,1 M serta variasi inhibitor sebesar 25, 75, dan 125 ppm. Berdasarkan analisis kualitatif menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) menunjukan bahwa morfologi permukaan kerak CaCO3 tanpa inhibitor lebih besar dibandingkan dengan adanya inhibitor sedangkan analisis kuantitatif menggunakan Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) menunjukan bahwa distribusi ukuran partikel kerak CaCO3 menjadi lebih kecil dengan adanya penambahan inhibitor. Berdasarkan persentase (%) kemampuan menghambat, konsentrasi optimum perpaduan ekstrak gambir dengan asam benzoat dapat menghambat kerak CaCO3 0,1 M yaitu pada konsentrasi 250 ppm dengan % kemampuan menghambat pada metode seeded experiment sebesar 24,9 %. Kata kunci : Gambir, Asam Benzoat, kerak CaCO3 (Scale has become quite serious problems in industries, especially in oil and gas industry. Therefore, in this research it has been conducted addition of inhibitor compound from gambier ekstract mixed with benzoic acid to reduce negative impact caused by scale formation. In this research it has been carried out the addition of inhibitor to calcium carbonate scale (CaCO3) by using seeded experiment method in CaCO3 concentrations of 0.05, 0.075, and 0.1 M as well as variation inhibitors of 25, 75, and 125 ppm. Based on qualitative analysis using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), it was showed that CaCO3 cristal size without addition of inhibitor is bigger than with addition of inhibitor, while quantitative analysis using Particle Size Analyzer (PSA) shows that CaCO3 particle size distribution is smaller. Based on the percentage of inhibiting, the optimum concentration of gambier extract combination with benzoic acid is at ratio 1 : 1 at 125 ppm of gambier ekstract and benzoic acid with % ability of 24,9 %.
