Budidaya rumput laut merupakan salah satu sektor perikanan yang memiliki potensi ekonomi tinggi. Budidaya rumput laut telah berhasil dikembangkan di Kecamatan Ketapang, Lampung Selatan namun dalam prosesnya masih menghadapi berbagai tantangan yang dapat mempengaruhi keberlanjutan usahanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk pengamatan kualitas air budidaya, dan strategi dalam usaha budi daya rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii dengan metode lepas dasar di Kecamatan Ketapang Lampung Selatan. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan September-Oktober 2024 di Kecamatan Ketapang Lampung Selatan. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan pengumpulan datanya menggunakan pengamatan lapangan (survei), wawancara, dan studi pustaka. Identifikasi faktor internal dan eksternal dalam usaha budidaya rumput laut dievaluasi dengan matriks Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) dan External Factor Evaluation (EFE). Metode strategi yang digunakan dalam budidaya rumput laut di Kecamatan Ketapang Lampung Selatan adalah analisis SWOT (Strength, Opportunities, Weaknesses, Threats). Hasil penelitian tesis menunjukkan kondisi lingkungan penelitian sangat sesuai untuk usaha budidaya rumput laut dengan metode lepas dasar. Strategi budi daya rumput laut Kapaphycus alvarezii dengan metode lepas dasar di perairan Kecamatan Ketapang yang paling tepat dilakukan adalah memperluas lahan usaha budidaya dengan pemberdayaan anggota dan kelompok dalam skala usahanya dan keterampilan teknik budidaya guna peningkatkan produksi. Kata kunci: Budidaya, Kappaphycus alvarezii, kualitas Air, Rumput laut, Ketapang Seaweed cultivation is one of the fisheries sectors that has high economic potential. Seaweed cultivation has been successfully developed in Ketapang District, South Lampung, but in the process it still faces various challenges that can affect the sustainability of its business. This study aims to observe the quality of cultivation water, and strategies in the cultivation of Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed using the off-bottom method in Ketapang District, South Lampung. The study was conducted in September-October 2024 in Ketapang District, South Lampung. The method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection using field observations (surveys), interviews, and literature studies. Identification of internal and external factors in seaweed cultivation efforts is evaluated using the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE) and External Factor Evaluation (EFE) matrices. The strategy method used in seaweed cultivation in Ketapang District, South Lampung is a SWOT analysis (Strengths, Opportunities, Weaknesses, Threats). The results of the thesis research show that the environmental conditions of the study are very suitable for seaweed cultivation efforts using the off-bottom method. The most appropriate strategy for cultivating Kapaphycus alvarezii seaweed using the off-bottom method in the waters of Ketapang District is to expand the cultivation area by empowering members and groups in terms of business scale and cultivation technique skills to increase production.
