Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalah motivasi belajar yang rendah ditemukan pada siswa slow learner di SMP Islam 03 Kalirejo, yang ditandai oleh motivasi belajar yang belum stabil, perilaku pasif di kelas, keterbatasan partisipasi dalam kegiatan pembelajaran, serta kurangnya konsistensi dalam mengikuti proses belajar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan dan meganalisis motivasi belajar siswa slow learner dan faktor-faktor yang memengaruhi motivasi belajar berdasarkan teori hierarki kebutuhan Abraham Maslow. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan studi kasus, dan menggunakan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara semi terstruktur terhadap siswa slow learner, orang tua, dan guru. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan perangkat lunak ATLAS.ti melalui proses pengodean, pengelompokan, dan analisis tematik. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi belajar siswa slow learner berada pada kategori sedang hingga rendah. Kebutuhan sosial menjadi faktor yang paling dominan memengaruhi motivasi belajar siswa, diikuti oleh kebutuhan fisiologis, sedangkan kebutuhan keamanan, kebutuhan penghargaan, dan kebutuhan aktualisasi diri memiliki tingkat pengaruh yang sama. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya dukungan lingkungan sosial dalam menjaga dan meningkatkan motivasi belajar siswa slow learner. Kata kunci: motivasi belajar, siswa slow learner The problem addressed in this study is the relatively low learning motivation found among slow learner students at SMP Islam 03 Kalirejo, which is characterized by unstable learning motivation, passive classroom behavior, limited participation in learning activities, and difficulties in maintaining learning consistency. This study aims to describe the learning motivation of slow learner students and to analyze the dominant factors influencing their learning motivation based on Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. This study employed a qualitative descriptive research method with a case study approach and used semi-structured interviews as the data collection technique involving slow learner students, parents, and teachers. The collected data were analyzed using ATLAS.ti software through coding, categorization, and thematic analysis to identify patterns related to students’ motivational needs. The results indicate that the learning motivation of slow learner students is generally at a moderate to low level. Social needs emerge as the most dominant factor influencing students’ learning motivation, followed by physiological needs, while safety needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs show the same level of influence. These findings highlight the importance of social support from family, peers, and teachers in maintaining and improving the learning motivation of slow learner students.
