Abstract
Masalah yang dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah kemampuan berimprovisasi menari sakura dengan menggunakan topeng dan tanpa menggunakan topeng pada siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2011/2012. Berdasarkan masalah tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membandingkan (tingkat) kemampuan siswa dalam berimprovisasi menari sakura dengan menggunakan topeng dan (tingkat) menari sakura tanpa menggunakan topeng. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode komparatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 14 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2011/2012 berjumlah 179 orang, yang tersebar dalam 5 kelas. Penyampelan dilakukan dengan memilih salah satu kelompok (kelas) secara acak (clustter random sampling). Dengan teknik ini terpilihlah kelas XI IPS1 yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Untuk menghimpun data, penelitian ini menggunakan tes kompetensi menari, yang ditunjang dengan teknik wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berimprovisasi menari sakura siswa yang menggunakan topeng lebih besar daripada siswa yang tidak menggunakan topeng, yakni 76,10 dan 68,30. Hasil yang diperoleh dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terjadinya selisih skor antara kedua kelas ialah 7,8. Setelah diuji secara statistik terbukti bahwa, nilai thitung (8,099) > ttabel (1,671). Perbedaan kemampuan itu terdapat dari kemampuan mereka berimprovisasi, siswa yang menggunakan topeng mampu bergerak secara bebas dan teratur, serta siswa didukung oleh rasa percaya diri dan terlepas dari rasa ”malu”, sehingga siswa dapat menumbuhkan imajinasi yang tinggi untuk bergerak improvisasi sesuai dengan karakter sakura yang akan diperankan. Sebaliknya, jika tanpa menggunakan topeng siswa bergerak dengan tidak terarah, karena adanya rasa ragu dan ”malu”, sehingga siswa tidak mampu bergerak improvisasi sesuai dengan karakter sakura. The research problem of this research was the improvisation ability of dancing Sakura dance by wearing the mask and without wearing the mask in the 11th grade students of SMAN 14 Bandar Lampung, school year of 2011/2012. Based on the research problem, this research was aimed to compare the students’ improvisation ability (level) in dancing sakura dance by wearing the mask and the students’ improvisation ability (level) in dancing sakura dance without wearing the mask. The research method used in this research was comparative method. This research population was the students in the 11th grade of SMAN 14 Bandar, school year of 2011/2012, which consisted of 179 students of 5 classes. The sampling method was obtained by choosing one of the 5 classes randomly (cluster random sampling). Thus, XI IPS 1 class which consisted of 30 students was chosen. The data collecting technique of this research was done through dancing competence test which was supported by interview technique. The result of the research showed that the students’ improvisation ability of dancing sakura dance by wearing the mask was higher than the students’ who did not wear the mask, in which the scores in those both classes were 76.10 and 68.30. This result showed that there was different gain between both classes, in which the gain 7.8. After being tested statistically, it was proved that, ttest (8.099) ttable (1.671). The ability difference was from their ability in improvising, in which the students who were wearing the mask could move freely and regularly, and they felt more confident and got rid of embarrassment; therefore, the students could emerge better imagination in improvising the movement based on the sakura’s character they were playing. On the other side, without wearing the mask, the students moved aimlessly because of hesitation and embarrassment; therefore the students were not able to improvise the movement based on the sakura’s character.
