Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

This quasi-experimental research aimed to know the influence of the contextual approach towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. This research used posttest only control design. This research population was all students of grade 7th of SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung in academic year of 2013/2014 as many as 258 students that was distributed into eleven classes. This research samples were students of VII B and VII C class who were chosen by purposive sampling technique. Based on hypothesis testing, it was gotten that there was no difference of mathematical conceptual understanding between contextual and conventional learning. Thus, it can be concluded that the contextual approach did not influence towards student’s mathematical conceptual understanding. Penelitian eksperimen semu ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pendekatan kontekstual terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan posttest only control design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VII SMPN 8 Bandar Lampung tahun pelajaran 2013/2014 sebanyak 258 siswa yang terdistribusi dalam sebelas kelas. Sampel penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VII B dan VII C yang diambil menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Berdasarkan pengujian hipotesis, diperoleh bahwa tidak ada perbedaan pemahaman konsep matematis antara pembelajaran kontekstual dan konvensional. Dengan demikian, disimpulkan bahwa pendekatan kontekstual tidak berpengaruh terhadap pemahaman konsep matematis siswa.
