Abstrak

This research aimed at finding and analyzing (1) the form of lesson planning using skimming-scanning, 2) implementational process of the lesson planning using skimming-scanning process, 3) teaching and learning evaluation result by using skimming-scanning technique, 4) the result of students’ achievement by using skimming-scanning technique. This research was class action research that consists of three cycles. Cycle I used skimming technique, cycle II used scanning technique and cycle III used skimming-scanning technique. Data collecting through observation and test. The results show that (1) the first cycle of learning activities focused on skimming technique , the resulting RPP value of 2.9 or categorized quite well . Second cycle of learning activities focused on reading scanning technique , the value of RPP to 3.8 either category and the third cycle using skimming techniques - scanning , RPP values reaching 4.6 in the excellent category 2 ) The process of learning by skimming - scanning technique can increase the activity of students , in the first cycle there is an active student 8 or 27 % , there is a second cycle students who are active 11 or 37 % and third cycle students are active 24 or 80 % , 3 ) evaluation of the ability to read and understand in the first cycle about the validity of 0.51 categorized enough , about the validity of the second cycle value of 0.65 categorized as high and about the validity of the third cycle value of 0.67 is also categorized as high . Low reliability values are 0.249 to 0.379 in the first cycle, the second cycle was reliabity value is 0.530 to 0.684 and the third cycle reliabity values as high as 0.735 to 0.845, 4) learning achievement in the first cycle there are students who pass the study reaches 10 or 33.3 %, completed the second cycle students who learn at 16 or 53.3 % and the third cycle students who pass the study reached 26 or 86.7 % . Keyword: Reading and Understanding ability, Skimming-Scanning Technique. Penelitian ini bertujuan menemukan dan menganalisis (1) perencanaan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan mengunakan teknik skimming-scanning,2) proses pelaksanaan pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan mengunakan teknik skimming-scanning, 3) evaluasi pembelajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan tepat menggunakan teknik skimming-scanning, 4) prestasi belajar bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan teknik skimming-scanning. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari 3 siklus. Siklus I dilakukan dengan teknik skimming, siklus II dilakukan dengan teknik scanning dan siklus III dilakukan dengan teknik skimming-scanning. Pengumpulan data melalui observasi dan tes. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa (1) siklus I kegiatan pembelajaran difokuskan pada teknik skimming,nilai RPP yang dihasilkan yaitu 2,9 atau dikategorikan cukup baik. Siklus II kegiatan pembelajaran difokuskan pada teknik membaca scanning , nilai RPP mencapai 3,8 kategori baik dan pada siklus III mengunakan teknik skimming-scanning, nilai RPP mencapai 4,6 dalam kategori sangat baik 2) Proses pembelajaran dengan teknik skimming-scanning dapat meningkatkan aktivitas siswa, pada siklus I terdapat siswa yang aktif 8 atau 27%, siklus II terdapat siswa yang aktif 11 atau 37% dan siklus III terdapat siswa yang aktif 24 atau 80%, 3) evaluasi kemampuan membaca dan memahami pada siklus I nilai validitas soal sebesar 0,51 dikategorikan cukup, siklus II nilai validitas soal sebesar 0,65 dikategorikan tinggi dan siklus III nilai validitas soal sebesar 0,67 juga dikategorikan tinggi. Nilai reliabilitas rendah pada siklus I yaitu 0,249-0,379, siklus II nilai realibitas sedang yaitu 0,530-0,684 dan siklus III nilai reliabitasnya tinggi yaitu 0,735-0,845. 4) prestasi belajar pada siklus I terdapat siswa yang tuntas belajar mencapai 10 atau 33,3%, siklus II siswa yang tuntas belajar mencapai 16 atau 53,3% dan siklus III siswa yang tuntas belajar mencapai 26 atau 86,7%. Kesimpulan: Kemampuan Membaca dan Memahami, Teknik Skimming-Scanning.
