i ABSTRACT STRATEGY OF CULTURE AND TOURISM AFFAIR OF LAMPUNG PROVINCE IN PROMOTING CULTURE AND TOURISM TROUGH KRAKATAU FESTIVAL By TIMO PRAMONO Culture and Tourism Affair of Lampung Province performed communication strategy in promoting culture and tourism trough Krakatau Festival, with objective that all potencies of culture and tourism been known and interested preference of investors, tourist and people by investing and more know about culture and tourism in Province of Lampung. The formula of this research is: “How is strategy of Culture and Tourism Affair of Lampung Province in Promoting culture and tourism trough Krakatau Festival?” The objective of this research is to describe the strategy of Culture and Tourism Affair of Lampung Province in promoting culture and tourism trough Krakatau Festival. Research type which applied in this research is qualitative, with taking informant Secretary of Krakatau Festival XVIII Year 2008 at Culture and Tourism Affair of Lampung Province and Daily Chief of Lampung Art Council. Data collecting technique conducted with observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis technique conducted qualitatively, by phases data reduce, data display and data verification. The result of this research show that strategy of Culture and Tourisms Affair Lampung Province in promoting culture and tourism trough Krakatau Festival XVIII Year 2008, consist of: (1) Communicant i i d d e e n n t t i i f f i i c c a a t t i i o o n n , , d d o o n n e e b b y y i i d d e e n n t t i i f f i i e e d d c c o o m m m m u u n n i i c c a a n n t t t t h h a a t t l l o o c c a a l l p p e e o o p p l l e e, domestic and foreign tourist and domestic and foreign investor. (4) M M e e d d i i a a c c h h o o o o s s i i n n g g , , d d o o n n e e b b y y u u s s i i n n g g m m a a s s s s m m e e d d i i a a , , p p r r i i n n t t e e d d a a n n d d e e l l e e c c t t r r o o n n i i c c i i n n l l o o c c a a l l a a n n d d n n a a t t i i o o n n a a l l l l e e v v e e l l a a n n d d u u s s i i n n g g i i n n t t e e r r n n e e t t i i n n p p r r o o m m o o t t i i n n g g Krakatau Festival to international public. ii iii ABSTRAK STRATEGI DINAS KEBUDAYAAN DAN PARIWISATA PROVINSI LAMPUNG DALAM MEMPROMOSIKAN BUDAYA DAN PARIWISATA MELALUI FESTIVAL KRAKATAU Oleh TIMO PRAMONO Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Propinsi Lampung melaksanakan strategi komunikasi dalam mempromosikan budaya dan pariwisata melalui Festival Krakatau, dengan tujuan agar berbagai potensi budaya dan pariswisata tersebut akan diketahui dan dikenal secara luas, sehingga akan menarik minat para investor, wisatawan dan masyarakat luas untuk menanamkan investasi dan mengenal lebih jauh tentang kebudayaan dan pariwisata di Propinsi Lampung. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah: “Bagaimana strategi Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Propinsi Lampung dalam mempromosikan budaya dan pariwisata melalui Festival Krakatau Tahun 2008?” Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menjelaskan dan menganalisa strategi Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Propinsi Lampung dalam mempromosikan budaya dan pariwisata melalui Festival Krakatau Tahun 2008. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kualitatif, dengan mengambil informan yaitu Sekretaris Pelaksana Festival Krakatau XVIII Tahun 2008 dari Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Propinsi Lampung dan Ketua Harian Dewan Kesenian Lampung (DKL). Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisa kualitatif dilakukan dengan tahapan reduksi data, penyajian data (display) dan pengambilan kesimpulan atau verifikasi data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa strategi Dinas Kebudayaan dan Pariwisata Propinsi Lampung dalam mempromosikan budaya dan pariwisata melalui Festival Krakatau XVIII Tahun 2008, meliputi: (1) P e e n n g g e e n n a a l l a a n n / / i i d d e e n n t t i i f f i i k k a a s s i i k k o o m m u u n n i i k k a a n n , , d d i i l l a a k k u u k k a a n n d d e e n n g g a a n n m m e e n n g g i i d d e e n n t t i i f f i i k k a a s s i i k k o o m m u u n n i i k k a a n n y y a a i i t t u u masyarakat lokal, wisatawan domestik dan mancanegara, serta para investor dalam dan luar negeri.
