Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

This research was aimed at finding out whether there is a correlation between the students’ motivation and their writing ability of second year students of SMA Al Kautsar Bandar Lampung. This research was conducted at SMA Al Kautsar Bandar Lampung in academic year 2014/2015. The researcher took place in class XI Science 1 which consisted of 34 students. The instruments used to gather the data were motivation test and writing test. The result showed that the highest score of students’ motivation was 94, the lowest score was 41, and the average was 65.8. While for the writing test the score was gained from the average of interaters sum scoring, the highest score was 95, the lowest score was 55, and the average was 75. Then the researcher correlated the students’ motivation and their writing. It was found that the coefficient correlation between the students motivation and their writing ability was 0.873. It meant that the correlation between the students’ motivation and their writing ability was high. It was proven by the result of Pearson Product Moment formula, which showed p was 0.00 and it meant that the result was significant because p<0.05 α (0.00<0.05). Based on the result above it can concluded that there is a significant correlation between the students’ motivation and their wrtiting ability.
