Abstrak (Berisi Bastraknya saja, Judul dan Nama Tidak Boleh di Masukan)

The objectives of this research were to find out whether Jigsaw Technique could be used to improve the students’ involvement in reading activity of report text, the teachers’ performance in teaching reading of report text and the students’ reading comprehension achievement. To see the improvement of the teaching learning process including the teachers’ performance, the observation-based qualitative data were used. Meanwhile, quantitative data (students’ reading comprehension score) was used to measure the students’ achievement in reading comprehension (learning product). This research was conducted at SMP Pajajaran Bandar Lampung. The subjects of the research were the students of class IX B in the 2011/2012 academic year. This Classroom Action Research (CAR) was done in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The indicators of the research were considered successful if 80% of the students were actively involved in the learning process, the teacher got score 70 or more from each aspect of Jigsaw Technique and 80% the students could gain score 60 or more in reading comprehension test. The results of the research were: 1. In cycle 1, most of the students were active during the teaching learning process. The teacher could gain the target score (average score: 73.78) but the students’ score could not achieve the indicator (only 16 students (53%) who got score 60 or more). 2. In cycle 2, the students were also active during the teaching learning process. Both the results of the teacher’s observation sheet and learning product (reading comprehension achievements) could achieve the target in this cycle. The teacher got the average score 80.28 for her teaching performance. Meanwhile, there were 25 students (83%) who got score 60 as indicator or more from indicator. Referring to the results of the research, it can be said that Jigsaw Technique can be used to improve the students’ involvement in reading activity of report text. Besides the teachers’ performance in teaching reading of report text and the students’ reading comprehension achievement were also improved.
