Abstract
Abstrac Picture is a media for people to express themselves. Picture has meaning, where it can represented to a person feeling, Such as Kurt Coleman, as the person who like taking and sharing his selfie photo in his Instagram. The purpose of this research are: 1. To know the frequency of Kurt Coleman to share his selfie photos in Instagram. 2. To know and to explain the meaning of selfie photos and how it can be a good media to express himselves in social media for example Instagram by analyze Kurt Coleman’s photos. This research is using qualitative method and Kurt Coleman photos as an object. Communication theory that used in this recource is semiotic theory by Ferdinand De Saussure. By seen the meaning of signifier and signified from Kurt Coleman photos, To analyze those photo’s meaning, researcher using four Indicator, there are face expressions, fashion, style and background. The results of this research explain that the selfie photos by Kurt Coleman has shown four indicators such as face expressions, fashion, style, background and researcher assumed that Kurt Coleman not only take his own picture but also do foto selfie by location, fashion and what the was doing. Abstrak Foto adalah sebuah objek yang dapat dijadikan media informasi bagi setiap orang, karena dalam sebuah gambar foto terdapat makna yang dapat di representasikan bagi orang yang melihatnya,seperti foto selfie yang dilakukan oleh Kurt Coleman, yang merupakan penikmat foto selfie terbanyak di dunia. Tujuan penelitian ini 1. Mengetahui frekuensi per hari account Kurt Coleman dalam mengunggah foto selfie, 2. Mengetahui dan menjelaskan seperti apa foto selfie dijadikan sarana mengekspresikan diri pada media sosial instagram melalui klasifikasi ekspresi wajah dari account Kurt Coleman. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis kualitatif dengan objek foto selfie Kurt Coleman. Teori Komunikasi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teori semiotika dari Ferdinand De Saussure dengan melihat makna penanda dan petanda dari foto selfie Kurt Coleman, dengan indikator ekspresi seperti ekspresi wajah, gaya, fashion, dan latar. Sehingga dari empat indikator tersebut foto selfie di analisis untuk mengetahui makna yang terkandung di dalam foto tersebut. Hasil penelitian menjelaskan bahwa account Kurt Coleman sudah menunjukan empat dari indikator seperti ekspresi wajah, gaya, latar dan fashion dan dari hasil menganalisis peneliti pun mendapatkan bahwa dalam berfoto selfie Kurt Coleman tidak hanya melakukan foto dirinya saja, namun Kurt Coleman juga melakukan foto selfie berdasarkan lokasi, dan sedang melakukan apa.
