ABSTRACT EFFECT OF NONVERBAL TO CHILDREN LANGUAGE EQUATION (A CASE STUDY ON SHAUN THE SHEEP) by DEWI OCTAVIA Animation show is one of the entertainment for the children. They would spent their time with watching television. Television also has a function as information and knowledge for children. Howard (2011) said that there were 8 kind of equation, one of them was language equation. Usually, animation show in television is in verbal impressions. The problem occured when some of the animation shows without text. The purpose of this study was to know how much the effect of nonverbal to children language equation. This research was conducted in Francis elementary school on November 30 th 2012. The research was done by using questionnaires spread on the Grade 5 students who were in 3 classes. The data were analyzed by Product Moment , Alfa Cronbach, and simple linear regression. The results of this study indicate that by watching animation nonverbal have an influence on children's equation. So the hypothesis was accepted that there was an effect of nonverbal to children language equation. With t values 7,254 and 1,676 t table. The effect of nonverbal to children language equation was 45%. Shaun the Sheep animation show has enough influence for children language equation. Although the animation show didn’t use text, otherwise the children could understood indeed and give good responses of communication nonverbal. Parents should take care of their children and saw what equation their children have to explore them. Keywords: basic learning, media effect, nonverbal media ABSTRAK PENGARUH TAYANGAN NON VERBAL TERHADAP KECERDASAN BAHASA ANAK (Studi Dalam Tayangan Animasi Shaun The Sheep) Oleh DEWI OCTAVIA Tayangan animasi adalah salah satu hiburan bagi anak – anak. Dengan adanya tayangan animasi mereka akan menghabiskan waktunya dengan menonton. Tayangan di televisi juga memiliki fungsi sebagai informasi dan pengetahuan bagi anak – anak. Howard mengatakan bahwa ada 8 macam jenis kecerdasan, salah satunya adalah kecerdasan bahasa. Tayangan animasi yang disajikan dalam televisi kebanyakan berupa tayangan verbal. Namun yang menjadi rumusan masalah disini adalah tayangan animasi dalam penelitian ini menggunakan tayangan animasi nonverbal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah ingin mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh tayangan animasi nonverbal terhadap kecerdasan bahasa anak. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SD Fransiskus 2 Bandar Lampung pada tanggal 30 November 2012. Populasi penelitian ini Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan penyebaran kuesioner terhadap 79 responden siswa kelas 5 yang berjumlah 3 kelas. Jawaban dari kuesioner tersebut kemudian dianalisis dengan menggunakan Product Moment, uji hasil reliabilitas dengan menggunakan Alfa Cronbach serta dengan regresi linear sederhana. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menonton tayangan animasi nonverbal ternyata memiliki pengaruh yang cukup terhadap kecerdasan bahasa anak. Dengan begitu hipotesis diterima yaitu adanya pengaruh tayangan animasi nonverbal terhadap kecerdasan bahasa anak. Dengan nilai t 7,254 dan t sebesar 1,676. Tayangan animasi nonverbal Shaun The Sheep memiliki pengaruh yang cukup terhadap kecerdasan bahasa anak. Walaupun tayangan animasi ini berupa tayangan yang tidak menggunakan kata – kata, tetapi anak – anak masih mampu mengerti bahkan dapat memberikan respon dengan baik yaitu memahami komunikasi nonverbal.
