ABSTRACT THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN LEARNING APPROACH WITH STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT AT FIRST YEAR MEDICAL STUDENT ON LEARNING SKILL AND BASIC PROFESSIONALISM BLOCK IN MEDICAL FACULTY UNIVERSITY OF LAMPUNG By MUHAMMAD MAHARDHIKA MALIK Learning approach is one of the factors that influenced medical student achievement. The purposes of this research were to investigated the relation between learning approach with student achievement at first year medical student on learning skill and basic professionalism block with two kinds of approach, deep and surface approach. This study was a descriptive-analytic cross-sectional study. The study sample consisted of 214 first year students in the Medical Faculty, University of Lampung. The instrument that used to determine the learning approach is Revised Study Process Questionnaire 2 Factors (R-SPQ-2F). The results showed that from 214 first-year students, there were 207 (96.7%) of students using deep approach and there were 7 (3.3%) students using surface approach. The mean value of final block examination result of students who use deep approach was 63,83 and mean value of final block examination result of students who use students surface approach was 54,71. The data was statistically tested using Fisher Test and p value is 0,155. From this study we could summarize that there was no significant relationship between learning approach with student achievement at first year of medical students on learning skill and basic professionalism block in Medical Faculty, University of Lampung. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara learning approach terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa tahun pertama pada blok learning skill and basic professionalism melalui dua jenis pendekatan yakni deep approach dan surface approach. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif-analitik dengan pendekatan studi potong lintang. Sampel penelitian ini terdiri dari 214 mahasiswa tahun pertama di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penggunaan learning approach adalah Revised Study Process Questionnaire 2 Factors (R-SPQ-2F). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa dari 214 mahasiswa tahun pertama, terdapat 207 (96,7%) mahasiswa menggunakan deep approach dan terdapat 7 (3,3%) mahasiswa menggunakan surface approach. Pada mahasiswa yang menggunakan deep approach memiliki rerata nilai ujian akhir blok sebesar 63,83 dan mahasiswa yang menggunakan surface approach memiliki rerata nilai ujian akhir blok sebesar 54,71. Data diuji secara statistik dengan uji Fisher dan didapatkan nilai p 0,155. Simpulan dalam penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang tidak bermakna antara learning approach terhadap hasil belajar mahasiswa tahun pertama pada blok learning skill and basic professionalism di Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Lampung.
