ABSTRAK NILAI PENDIDIKAN KARAKTER PADA CERPEN-CERPEN KARYA SISWA SMP DALAM MAJALAH HORISON DAN IMPLIKASINYA SEBAGAI BAHAN AJAR SASTRA DI SMP Oleh VINI SUSIANI Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mendeskripsikan nilai pendidikan karakter pada cerpen-cerpen karya siswa SMP dalam majalah Horison dan implikasinya sebagai bahan ajar sastra di SMP. Penulis meneliti hal tersebut karena nilai pendidikan karakter dalam cerpen memiliki pengaruh yang besar untuk mengubah perilaku seseorang. Rumusan masalah dalam penelitian ini adalah bagaimana nilai pendidikan karakter dalam cerpen-cerpen karya siswa SMP yang dimuat di majalah Horison serta implikasinya dalam pembelajaran sastra di sekolah. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah cepen-cerpen karya siswa SMP yang dimuat dalam majalah Horison Edisi Januari–Maret 2012. Sumber data dianalisis dengan cara mengidentifikasi data, mengklasifikasikan data, menganalisis data, dan menyimpulkan data yang telah dianalisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa cerpen karya siswa SMP mengandung nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter. Nilai-nilai pendidikan karakter tersebut adalah meliputi sikap jujur, berani, amanah, bijaksana, tanggung jawab, disiplin, mandiri, malu, kasih sayang, indah, toleransi, adil, dan cinta bangsa. Implikasi hasil penelitian ini berupa pembelajaran sastra menggunakan cerpen-cerpen karya siswa SMP yang dibuat di majalah Horison dalam kompetensi dasar 4.3 menelaah dan merevisi teks hasil observasi, tanggapan, deskriptif, eksposisi, eksplanasi, dan cerita pendek sesuai dengan struktur dan kaidah teks baik secara lisan maupun tulisan. Kata kunci : Nilai pendidikan, karakter, implikasi ABSTRACT THE CHARACTER EDUCATION VALUES OF SHORT STORIES WRITTEN BY JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IN HORISON MAGAZINE AND ITS IMPLICATIONS AS LITERATURE TEACHING MATERIALS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL By VINI SUSIANI The objective of this research was to describe character education values in short stories written by Junior High School Students in Horison magazine and its implications as teaching materials in Junior High School. The author studied this because character education values in these short stories had big influences in changing someone’s behaviors. The problem statement in this research was how did character education values of short stories written by Junior High School Students in Horison magazine and its implications as literature teaching materials in Junior High School. This was a descriptive and qualitative research. Data were collected from short stories written by Junior High School students published in Horison magazine in January to March 2012 editions. Data were analyzed by identifying, classifying, analyzing, and concluding data. The research results showed that short stories of Junior High School students published in Horison magazine contained of character values including honest, courage, wise, responsibility, discipline, autonomous, shy, affection, beauty, tolerance, loving nation, and just. Its implications as literature teaching materials in Junior High School were to 4:3 basic competences including analyzing and revising observed texts, responses, descriptive, exposition, explanation, and short stories which were according to structures and principles of texts both in written and oral forms.
